BinClock

[Download]

Announcing an update to one of our products for the Palm Computing® Platform series of devices: BinClock 2.0. This application displays a binary clock on your device's screen. See below for a detailed explanation of how to read the time on this interesting clock.

This is the main view, with all of the "cheat features" enabled. Technically-oriented people will only display the center squares which accurately represent the time. You can selectively turn on the Hours/Min/Seconds heading, the 8/4/2/1 row labels, and the "normal" numerical time near the bottom. See below for instructions on how to read a binary clock.

This is the configuration dialog which lets you enable text labels, as well as select 24-hour time. Users of Palm OS 3.x devices (Palm III and later) can toggle grayscale graphics mode.

How to read the time on a binary clock

Looking at the main BinClock screen shot, you will see that hours are represented by the two leftmost columns, minutes are represented by the two center columns, and seconds are represented by the two rightmost columns. In each group of two, the leftmost represents the first digit (i.e. "1" in "12", or "2" in "26"), and the rightmost column represents the second digit (i.e. "2" in "12", or "6" in "26").

Now note the 8, 4, 2, and 1 labels on the left side. These tell you what each circle represents. You add the active circles to determine which number is represented in a given column. If the 1 and 4 circles are active, that means the column represents 5.

Now that you know the basics, you should watch the clock in action with all the "cheat features" turned on...and study the activity carefully. To access these cheat features, tap the Menu silk-screened button, then select "Configure" from the "Options" menu. By default, all labels are enabled, and 24-hour mode is disabled.

The best way to see all of BinClock's features is to download and try it out for yourself. We encourage you to try it free for 30 days. If you aren't 100% satisfied with BinClock, just remove it from your Palm device.

If you're ready to purchase a registration code, simply add it to your PalmGear cart.
